Crew Members are the heart and soul of our commercial maintenance business. They are responsible for all aspects of year round landscape maintenance, new commercial landscape installation, snow & ice management, and equipment operation in connection with commercial projects for our clients in and around our Muncie and Indianapolis locations.  Crew Members must have a strong work ethic, enjoy working outside, and have the ability to work independently and in teams.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Minimum of one year’s experience in landscaping
No formal education required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS NEEDED
Must be able to communicate with supervisor
Must be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently
Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT OF THE POSITION
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop or kneel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job are dictated by the Indiana Driver’s License requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Account Manager

The Account Manager must be able to manage existing commercial maintenance clients and be able to generate new maintenance customers as well.  They must be driven to meet sales goals by renewing current clients and selling enhancement projects to our current customer base and they must be comfortable networking and generating new business. Knowledge of plants and previous horticulture experience is a must.


OBJECTIVES

1. Client Service
In business for nearly two decades, we have loyal clients who we service and renew annually. Each Account Manager is assigned a current client list to service and develop. Client retention rate is a key factor in succeeding in this role. Strong communication and relationship development skills are a must.

2. Business Development
Each Account Manager has business development goals to reach through the attraction of new clients and delivery of enhanced services to current clients. While each Account Manager will be supported by corporate marketing efforts, it is the responsibility of the individual to prospect, network, and close new accounts.

3. Project Management
The Account Manager is the point person for each of their client relationships. They are responsible for communicating with other members of the Jay-Crew team including office personnel and Operations Managers to ensure the clients expectations are met on each and every project.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Required – Associate’s Degree or greater from an accredited college or university
  • Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Required – Prior experience in outside sales and service
  • Preferred – Prior experience in commercial and/or residential landscaping


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS NEEDED

  • Plant knowledge and previous horticulture experience preferred
  • Landscape design experience not necessary but helpful

Foreman / Supervisor

Maintain loading time in the morning to ensure timely departure from the shop
Ensure all necessary paperwork, equipment and materials needed to perform the current job are loaded prior to leaving the shop
Motivate and ensure an efficient workforce to meet or beat budgets for time and materials.
Responsible for quality control to ensure a high-level of service to the client
Maintain a safe working environment for all crew members, clients, and the general public
Responsible for training of Crew Members
Ensure safe and efficient operation of all equipment
Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards
Responsible for timely and accurate paperwork completion and submission
Ensure all tools, equipment and trash is removed from trucks at the end of each day
Responsible for reporting defects with trucks/equipment to Shop Manager
Responsible for reporting to Operations Manager any complaints from clients, citizens or Crew Members
Perform all other duties as assigned

Fleet & Equipment Manager

The Fleet & Equipment Manger will be responsible for overseeing and performing the repair and maintenance of all vehicles, equipment, and the facility itself. This person must also supply their own hand tools, maintain a clean facility and yard area, oversee the inventory of repair parts and supplies, and be willing to assist other personnel as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a clean and organized shop/yard at all times

  • Responsible for asset inventory control and ensure proper care of company vehicles and equipment

Operations Manager

The Operations Manager directs and coordinates scheduled requirements of workers (foremen and crews), establishes quality control, ensures a high level of service to customer relations, meets budget standards, oversees use of equipment and materials, and assists personnel as needed in carrying out their responsibilities.


OBJECTIVES

1. Team Leadership

  • Hire, train, monitor, evaluate, and discipline direct reports
  • Motivates an efficient workforce to accomplish schedules as assigned through contract deliverables
  • Payroll documentation and production posting
  • Maintain a safe working environment with the assistance of the company’s safety manager
  • Conduct regular safety training and assist foremen in carrying out duties as needed

 

2. Project Management

  • Material purchasing and inventory control
  • Maintain costs within assigned budgets

Seasonal - Snow Removal Crew

We are always looking for reliable team members to help us during the winter months with our snow removal efforts!

Snow Removal Crew Members would be responsible for working independently or with a team to clear snow and de-ice walkways and parking lots for various commercial properties. Work hours are unpredictable and could include weekends and holidays as well as extended time outside in the weather and elements. We service commercial properties in Indianapolis and surrounding areas as well as Anderson, Noblesville, Pendleton, and Muncie.

 

We are looking to fill the following positions:

  • Salt truck drivers
  • Snow Shovelers
  • Equipment Operators
  • Sub-Contractors with Staff Laborers
  • Sub-Contractors with Equipment

 

Requirements:

  • Must be available for snow and ice weather events and able to report to a central location or jobsite
  • Physically able to work outside in sometimes extreme weather conditions routinely lifting and or moving up to 80 pounds
  • Capable of working effectively with other team members to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • One-year experience in snow removal preferred but not required
  • Valid Driver’s License required with clean driving record (Salt Truck Drivers)
